Hugs to Your Soul !

I was probably telling her an article which stated the Markowitz portfolio optimization model which I had already told...twice. When we were walking on the 2km path from my college, that led us to the bus stop from where we'd reach our respective hideouts. I wasn't looking at her but swiveling my head back and forth from street corner to street corner since it was a path surrounded by fields, trees and a few residents who have bought land or house here hoping the Bangalore Government would make that outskirt a part of the city.My college ....... located some 3 kms after the much hailed IIM B, all spreads into the Bannerghatta forest range. While we walked through the path to reach the Gottigere Village bust stop.

" come fast machi " cried my best buddy who was far ahead of me ,close to the bus stop with another classmate of us.Probably he had sighted the bus that would take us to our destination.

Usually i lead him to the spot but that was the day when i felt the dying few days of the college life & was busy thinking of her and what she said when we were in Singapore a couple of days back... Yes ! i owed an answer to her. They were words that had a lot of meaning from her end and were picking my throat demanding an answer.....All the way we were walking & I had to see everything, I had to watch every move and read every sign. She'd seen it all a dozen times, I didn't know when I would see it again. I didn't even notice she was gone for at least two and a half steps.

I looked back and rising from a kneel she protectingly held a little dirty gray ball of feathers from the green bed of grasses. It's beak, an orange yellow sliver poked outwards, originating below a glossy black eye. Her attention that had been generously donated to my reciprocated tale had disappeared and a channel of concern flowed between her and the little broken bird, stuck on the concrete sidewalk near to those grasses, hopping in front of the tree trunk, waiting to be smashed and only noticed too late. It looked at her and didn't move. She looked around & glanced at my eye for what I'm not sure. Maybe a tree, a mother bird, somewhere safer, there was nothing. Then she looked up at me again, a soft smile followed by faintly pleading eyes. I didn't have any idea of what to do with the bird as she held it caressingly. I know both the bird and She wanted my attention and didn't want to end the day separated but in the end, we had to put the bird back down the trunk after i forced a plate in its trunk ( a carved area )and left it over there surrouned by soft grass and forced ourselves to continue walking, trying not to feel guilty. Birds can't go on airplanes that have to be caught a cab ride away.

It is just the kind of person She is. This whole ordeal, minutes long, over two months ago, it won't be something she will ever forget. She will still wonder if it was the right thing to do. The question would stem from her own conscience. Rather, it comes from just the simple care she has for anything around her. She gave me a book earlier that week and wrote inside, "Consider this just one of many big hugs to your soul." Only people who stop to pick up broken birds, know how to give those kind of hugs. I speak for myself and for the bird, we are glad we know her. From both of us; thank you, thank you and thanks a ton. It is comforting to know there is a person who is paying enough attention to the dark corners of doorways or the sound of your voice to know when to stop, kneel down, and hug your soul.

Deep in the memories ............ they flash hard............

Purposeful Shopping ......... @ what cost ....... for whom ?? ( exp. of others does count )

While She was walking back home, crossing a Lifestyle/Shoppers Stop or any of the outlets on 100ft road of Indiranagar ...if something on a mannequin catches her eye.....She paused to take a second long look....close Her eyes and picture herself in the same attire....if She is satisfied with what she has visualized....She will take a deep breath in and boldly venture into the shop to enquire about the price.

Salesman: Yes ma'am...

She: I just wanna have a look at that (pointing to the countless copies of the mannequin's costume on the racks).

Salesman: sure...(She will try to get a sneak view at the price)

She: Ohhh...It doesnt look as good as it was from a distance (actually, the price is too high - She wouldnt risk buying something this expensive… lest She'll have a "spat" (read - verbal blows) with her hubby Rishab)

or
She: Can you gimme a M? (the price looks affordable, (albeit marginally), definitely worth a try)...After She is done with the trial formalities, she generally have these 2 thoughts:

Given the price, would this piece of cloth suit the hangers of the outlet more or the ones in her cupboard? She can wear this on an average for max 2 days every week, for the remaining 24*5 hours would She care whether this lies in her cupboard or theirs? Would the joy I get from wearing it on those 2 days immensely outdo my sorrow on the 16th of the next month when I need to clear my credit card bill? Hmmm …..

Mostly She will be back with a 'N' response. She politely thanks the salesman for his time citing some vague excuse for not picking it up.

After all her analysis, she will come to the conclusion that this is definitely not worth a miss. So She'll summon all her courage, swipe her credit card and she ambivalently back with the jubilation of having acquired a prized possession and the impending guilt of having to face her husband's wrath...She will start building up a nice story....

She: (Waiting breathlessly as soon as she hears the footsteps outside her door - opening the door even before the first knock/ring. I have hidden my purchase in the darkest chasms of my wardrobe). Hi...you back so early?

Rishab: (A confused look - he is actually late). I am sorry you don't need to taunt me..

She: Oh no no...work is always of prime importance...it comes before everything else (A very cordial me, helps his laptop away while he gives me bewildered looks)...Food now or later?

Rishab: looking whiffed …… hmmm ….. will have it now ! We having dinner.

She: So, what plans for your parents' anniversary next week? ;)

Rishab: Nothing. Will order a bouquet for them from floraindia and get them some apparel.

She: Nothing else?

Rishab: Obviously not...we definitely dont have leave to go anywhere..and, since when are you so eager to meet them?

She: Oh..they are very good people actually....very different from the other in-law stories that I have heard (The way to a guy's heart is through his mom's ;) )

Rishab: Hmmm....(looking quizzically)

She: Yeah..atleast we should celebrate it here..as in go out for dinner?..wear nice clothes?...compliment each other?...appreciate the clothes the other is wearing?...what say?

Rishab: Yeah?...you need an occasion for all that?

She: (not the right time to admit a crime for sure - keeping a straight face). Oh..you are so down-to-earth. I actually thought you would be on cloud 9 if I make this day special for you.

Next week on the D-Day, rishab keeps his promise...we go out for a nice dinner...I am wearing my....

Rishab: Oh, thats a nice top you are wearing. How come you never wore it earlier?

She: Yeah..Is it good? Glad you like it. Its a GUCCI.

Rishab: (raised eyebrows) Since when have you started wearing these brands?

She: Oh...special clothes for special occasions...This I bought particularly for this Day...which is so eventful in our lives...you know you would not exist, we would not be here together had your parents chosen to not marry each other today 28 years ago....They are truly leading by example...tomorrow when I have kids I would strive to bring them up the way you have been...

Rishab:(Smug look - starts raving about his parents, oblivious of the other "bigger" damage to his pocket)

She: (Relieved, hit the nail on the head - learn t the most valuable secret of looting an innocuous husband)

The Story Continues ……………….

Almost all middle class husbands face this scenario........

Tamizh Thelledha?

Tamil-Telugu fights have gone on for ages, albeit in a low volume. Verbal, psychological and sometimes even physical, these fights are always interesting (to the viewer). While some may dismiss it as a stupid case of regional chauvinism, it is much more than that - its a regional timepass.

Now don't mista
ke the Tamils or the Telugus to be a bunch of warring morons who have no other job. That would be the Kannadigas. Actually i don't hate them... They have some real good ,educated and cultured people too. They do have a good cosmo scoiety set up.They love thier state.I do like Bangalore a lot! alright but how come they be so rationale to fight & quarrel against all of thier neighbours for issues of less substance.Did I say " rationale " ? hmmmm let it be for them.I mean c'mon, those idiots have been fighting with people from every state surrounding there's. If there were people living in the Arabian Sea, Karnataka would be known as an "all-round" pissed off state.

I have seen many Tamil movies where the averag
e Reddy's respect is demolished in every respect. While I find that fascinating, what I find more fascinating is the fact that Telugu movies don't show your average Iyer or Chettiyar or Mudaliar in such poor light (I have not included Iyengars because everyone knows that they are just a sub-sect of Iyers. C'mon, they just wanna be different : they wear the pattai vertically in multi-colors). Tells a lot about their tolerance levels. Or maybe they just don't watch Tamil movies. I have been witness to, but not part of, many Tam-Tel fights. In college once, things went upto such an extent that a Telugu guy proved that he had one when accused by a Tamil guy of being devoid of one. No no, he didn't do anything drastic. Just took that Tamil guy to the restroom and showed him, and so did the Tamil guy. Whaaat? ............. So whats wrong?

Everyone
is entitled to their own opinion - mine (I think I lifted this line from somewhere. I think from Farzanna. I am heavily influenced by her, even though she is a Malayaalee. And a she :).

I have seen just one Telugu movie - Bommarillu, which has been very ably remade in Tamil by our very own " kichu kich koral "Jeyam Remake Ravi (Santosh Subramanian. How lame a movie name can you get?). While I found Genelia obnoxiously chirpy, I found the movie enjoyable mainly because of Siddharth's performance. The guy does everything - acting, dancing (well!) and even singing (he sang the Appudu Ippudu song, which BTW ,is the only song that I have known a little ).

I would love to write something about the Malayaalees as well.Thing is that they dont live in India. I heard that there are more Mallus in Arabia than the sand particles there.

Insha Alla ....

Hi !!!! Can I be your friend??? :-)

How many times have we come across such scraps in our friends' Orkut scrapbook? But have you ever wondered how the psych of the person who posts such scraps functions? Have you ever given a thought to what goes through the poor thing's mind when, as usual, it does not get any reply to its repeated friendship requests? Do you think that Orkut is full of such people whose sole purpose of existance on Orkut is to get snubbed by snooty-nosed females? Have you ever wondered why you have yellow teeth?

If you are one of those nomadic souls in search of answers to life's perplexing questions, you have come to the right place my friend. For the sole purpose of existance of me, is to lead you to light, atleast as long as my Manger does not see me doing such heroic deeds when I should actually be doing the credit reviews. I cant make head or tail off.

OK. Start music. I hereby list some sample scraps I found in my friends' ( real names not revealed )scrapbook:

1. hi chitra h r u n hw u r doin?

(Dei naayae... ippo nalla illae na enna vaithiyam paakka poriya? MBBS padichavanae paavam mukkaran... nee 8th fail... paesa vandutey?)

2. hi madhu!! me a stranger peeped in to ur login!! jus coz my thalaivars name was ther!! jus a compliment!! u luk too good!! always, gals r good!!! keep smiling and that keeps u luk good!! gud luck!!

(Ada... ivara paaru da... annanukku saakku thaevae, illaena ivaru yaaru profileayum paakamaataran... poda dubukku... ithelam kaadhulae poo venchundirpaan, avantae poi sollu... And did he stop there? Nay. "gals r good"aan... ama, gals are good, guys are bad, but you are sad ....... mamu)

3. Hi Jenny, how r u ? ur working HCL ?

(Neengellam thirunthavae maatingalada? Athu enna "working HCL"? Athan English varalae lae? Pinnae yaen da? adhu seri, therincha tamizh ae unnnaku dabba dance aadudhu!)

4. hi

(I really like this guy a lot. Simple. Sweet. But highly ineffective. What the others could not achieve with poems, essays and ballads, this chap wants to with a simple - "hi". Dei... unnakku vaazhvu da... in the world of one-worders)

5. hiiiiiiiiiiii

(This is the poetic version of the previous scrap. If you observe carefully, it has exactly 12 I's, denoting the twelve hours in a day, and in turn expressing his levels of patience in pressing the 'I' key for quite some time. You may argue that a day is made up of 24 hours. Frankly, I couldn't care less about your arguments)

That was about the despo guys. Now for the gals.
The
"About Me" section for many gals in Orkut has this standard template - "Please. If you dont know me, dont add me. I am not here to make new friends". Uh-huh. Sure.

The maestro's music

I wanted to post this post for a long time but to frequent incidents being witnessed i couldn't proceed upon with this.I said to myself that i will write this for sure. The monotonous nature of life doesn't give me ample opportunities to get excited at the drop of a hat. But there was this incident that happened 4 months back that I would like to post.

I boarded a crowded bus from Airport Rd. Nal to JP Nagar at 8.00 p.m. The trip will easily take more than 1 and half hour. The commuters were junta who were heading home after a tiring day's work. So, there wasn't much noise or chatter. 2 people X and Y boarded together and asked the conductor " rendu Jayanagar tickets Kude"(give 2 Jayanagar tickets). After getting the tickets they started discussing about the music collection in X's mobile phone.

X turned out to be an Ilaiyaraja fan( like me .. hmmm like many). On Y's request, he started playing 'Unnakena Melae Ninrai' (Shimla Special). The sound of Bangalore traffic and an Ilaiyaraja song blazing away in an otherwise silent bus. I found it quite amusing...

"Nilavey vaa.."
"vaa Venilla.."
"Idhu oru pon maalai pozhudhu.."
"Rathiriyil Poothirukum Thamarai.."
"Raasathi unna..."
"Vazhvaae Maayam.."
"Kalivaaniyae.."
"Raama Naamam oru.."
"Valiyosai.."
"Singalathu Chinna Kuyilae.."
"En Iniya Pon Nilavae.."
"Mounamaana Neram.."
"Sangeetha jaathi mulai.."
"Sa Sa Sani Da sa ni.."
"poovey sem poovey.."
"Ilamai ennum Poongatrae.."
"Adiyae.. Manam nilu na.."
"Vachikava Unnna Mattum Nenju kulla.."

Many more songs followed, accompanied by animated discussions as to which song is better. There were no technical comparisons of the songs. Plain arguments. Just the songs and the movies they are from. If the songs were hit or not..

'Then Madurai Vaigai Nadhi' (Dharmathin Thalaivan) was queued and I couldn't stop myself from humming along. To my surprise, I found that many others were humming along too... It was the same sight around me. A pleasant smile and a tune on their lips and a stare far away into the Bangalore traffic. X and Y mentioned how this particular song elicited an encore in the Ilaiyaraja Live shows.. Oohs and Aahs.. They were so engrossed in the song that they skipped their stop.

The driver turned around, sensed the problem and halted the bus even though there was no official bus-stop. Before X and Y could get down, the driver managed a few words in Tamil 'Paattu nallaa irukku. Thanks.' (The songs were nice. Thanks.) Silence ensued.

The maestro's music has been appreciated technically in so many forums and ways, of course by a millions. Many Legends, his counterparts and living greats have hailed the complexity of the genius' compositions. But his music is much greater than those words because it touches so many people who do not know to appreciate shruthi, sangathi, ragam, thalam, dynamics, harmonies, scale changes, bass effects, etc.

This is another instance of the Maestro's power that caters to the tastes of music scholars and simple souls simultaneously......

Now, that's music ! (Illayaraja................... nothing can get better than his music)

My Dream ........... What is it ??

He saw something shining on the ground…he didn’t know where it came from but it was beautiful…just like a star…radiant and giving life and hope…yet something seemed missing…like an important part...like it had been ripped apart....broken!!!

With cautious steps he approached it…his heart beating fast as he picked it and held the tiny little thing in his palm. It seemed so gentle and soothing…but again he felt the incompleteness of it.

Her: That’s mine…

The sudden words surprised him as he turned around and stumbled...and that's when he saw the most beautiful girl standing in front of him...

Him: Huh??
Her: That thing you are holding in your palm...that's mine…can I have it back??

That's when he noticed the sorrow and pain in her voice...the tears in her eyes.

Him: Uh!!! Ok…
Her: Thank you!!!

And then as he watched her walk away holding that little thing...he couldn't hold himself anymore

Him: Hey!!! What is that?? It looks broken!!!

She stopped, turned, looked at him with those sad eyes and said "My Dream!!!"

This is a work of fiction. Resemblance to anyone dead, alive, gay or in a drunk state is purely co-incidental.

With love,In Love & No Love.........

Love is pure and its real sense is when one person sacrifices and compromises for the other person's minus, convert them into positives and vice versa.Love is kinda cute. Its all about loving someone truly ,deeply & madly. The imperfects loving another imperfects to make a perfect.Love is actually sweet when you know its forever to stay when you know all about the person and still love the same person.Love ofcourse seem to be a weird thing for many ...... so imperfectly perfect.

Her : I fell in love with you despite knowing your imperfections.

Him : I fell in love with you because i know your imperfections.

Her : huh ??

Him : Everyone is in love with your imperfections .... but your imperfections are ONLY mine to love you.

Her : You are weird. You are crazy.

Him : Yeah ... that's imperfect :) :)

Her : Hmmmm......... ha ha ha .. I Love You...

Him : Perfect !! :)

He watched as her shadow-less silhouette floated towards the horizon. Just like he had seen her for the first time. He thought he was dreaming for he couldn’t believe anyone could be so beautiful. The hair like the night itself, the lips which would make any rose shy, those eyes which expressed and said everything he wanted to hear. Yet, today the dream had broken…he had woken up to a rude reality…a reality where she was not his to call anymore…a reality where they were not one. He knew there were tears in her eyes just like in his…she just hid them from him for she feared hurting him. But seeing her like this hurt him more. He just wanted to say something…anything…just wanted to hear her voice one last time…

Him: Hey!!!

Her: What??

Him: You forgot your shadow...

Her: It's not mine anymore...it's a part of you now!!!

I Always feel strongly that love never fails and its the lovers who fail.Love is not about suffocating the other person but its about blossoming and endless giving.Love that is formed as naturally like the formation of clouds are one's that tend to go a long way.Mere attraction is like a hole in the ship which gives only one option ...that is to sink.Love is also a relation which needs to be given its space ,trust and blossom, it shouldn't be a one which is forced on .....

Her : Hey .... What are you doing ??
Him : Picking the pieces of a shattered dream. :(
Her : Huh ?? What happened ?
Him : Life !!!

I knew nothing about LOVE .................................

So how much is too much??

SELFLESS OR SELFISH LOVE

I have always given a lot of independence and space in my relationship and expect the same in return. Be it any relationship…not necessarily love…even friendship.I have never been in love. All my knowledge about love is what i have learnt from other's experiences only. I am the kind of person who would never ask any questions and don’t like being asked any either when i am in any relationships....

So when a Blogger friend told me that she doesn’t like me giving hugs similar to the pokes to other Bloggers and I should only reserve them for her I was kind of taken aback. I mean ok, if you like someone you expect that person to like you back but you can’t expect that person to not like and care about someone else. And over here I am just talking about friendship…wonder what she would be like in Love…I pity the guy she would end up with.

They say Love is Selfless then how come most of us are Selfish in it?? Why do we get jealous of him/her talking to someone else? I know a lot of guys who don’t like their girls talking to any other guy and vice-versa. Frankly I think these kinda people don’t deserve to be in a relationship. Well how can you expect someone to Love you if you don’t trust them and get all jittery even when they talk to someone else. Isn’t a relationship all about trust??

Well but then there is a flip side to it too … my good close friend's ex used to complain that she never get jealous and he is not possessive about her at all…maybe that’s one of the reasons she’s my ex now :P :P

So how much is too much??

A Celebration Of Being Alive !!!

Birthday is the name given to the date of the anniversary of the day of a person's birth. People in many cultures celebrate this anniversary. In some languages, the word for birthday literally translates as "anniversary". Birthdays are traditionally marked by celebrations including a birthday party or, in some particular cases, a rite of transition. The birthday cake is traditionally highly decorated, and typically covered with lit candles when presented, the number of candles signifying the age of the celebrant. The person whose birthday it is may make a silent wish and then blow out the candles. After that, the person can open their presents. It is also common for the person celebrating their birthday to cut the initial piece of the cake and feed it to his most dearest one.The first piece of a cake is always special.

Back when I was in school, my birthday was the most special day of the year for me. Though i was not sure of celebrating it religiously, yet a sense of get together and happiness surrounding the moment made me feel for it.I looked forward to the day each and every year. There were so many perks { actually this doesn't matter unless we have a demand for getting something brand new :) }being "the birthday boy" not only at home but at school too.Instead of the usual Grey stripped shirt & pants uniform, you were allowed to wear whatever you liked. It was the only day you could wear a t- shirt, a party wear shirt , a blazer suits, cargoes & funky jeans, any color shoes or whatever..Not only that but we could also pass up the homework from the previous day :) You had total immunity that day..

Though i didn't like that spotlight a tagged Birthday Boy gets in his class, i had to compromise on it to enjoy all the following that i can get.I hated the way to stand in front of the whole class in a color dress which was actually funny and get them all sing wishes for u. This is the first thing that happened after the school prayer. So after my fourth std i made sure i was in school uniform and yet celebrated the Birthday in the same way.Actually it was a nice way to start the day @ school by giving chocolates to everyone. It was always special to give some couple of more chocolates / a special chocolate to the girl whom u had a crush, it was the best chance to send a signal.I always had a wonderful party @ home as all my close friends came over on that day.Since I don't cut cakes, but then i use to have my mother' recipe done waiting for us all to taste them.It was the only school-day that I was allowed to stay up a little late too :) Oh so much fun !

I never really met anyone that didn't enjoy their birthday at that age in school .. up until 15 years ago. It was at the end of my 7th std then..... Why would anyone not like to celebrate their birthday? .. More recently I was talking to someone about this very same topic and this time I just couldnt be without thinking into it.. I guess for some its candles and cake..fun and friends, for some its the thought of growing old (I am pretty sure no one is happy about aging), for some it is way too embarrassing to be in the spotlight, and for some its just another day of the year it has always been. So, What is so special about it anyway ? Why do people celebrate birthdays ? I was thinking about this, when suddenly I remembered something..a little bit out-of-context.

Long long ago when I was in middle school, we had an essay in the English textbook titled : "In Celebration of Being Alive". I am not able to recollect the whole story now, but all I remember is that the story was very touching.. very sad.. but happy too..and it left a lasting influence on my mind. I had to read it again.. I tried looking up on the Internet and after some frantic searching, found just one entry from another person's blog that spoke about the exact same essay. The setting was that of a hospital dorm full of children. Most of the kids are suffering from life-threatening health problems. Waiting to be treated.. waiting for a donor.. or some waiting for death to come..with all treatment options tried and possible yet going in vain.. The doctor walks in and is surprised to see all of them happy. A blind boy and his disabled friend(who doesn't have a leg) are playing the push-cart game. The blind boy is pushing the cart on which the disabled boy is seated and is steering it as well as guiding the blind boy. ..The boys are having a lot of fun moving across the room..while the rest of the crowd cheers them.

This scene..as i visualized in my mind while thinking about it, gave me my answers..Its is not about what happened in one's life before or whats to come in future.. but, about the life we have now..at this very moment.. all the great pleasures that we are able to enjoy..today..the sound of the rain, the scent of the flowers...the warmth of the sun and the beauty of the mountains.. all those magnificent things.. just because we are still alive. Now, THAT is definitely an occasion to celebrate.Isn't it.? And so, ..the day, when your life came into existence....years ago ..becomes significant every year for......
"A Celebration Of Being alive.." !

Instincts !!!!!!!

Understanding human psyche is quite a difficult job. But instincts can give us a fair idea of the behavior and personality that these psychic forces govern. By instincts here, I mean the impulsive reactions or response to some external stimulus.

Instinct is the inherent disposition of a living organism toward a particular behavior. Instincts are unlearned, inherited fixed action patterns of responses or reactions to certain kinds of stimuli. Examples of instinctual fixed action patterns can be observed in the behavior of animals, which perform various activities (sometimes complex) that are not based upon prior experience and do not depend on emotion or learning, such as reproduction, and feeding among insects. Sea turtles, hatched on a beach, automatically move toward the ocean, and honeybees communicate by dance the direction of a food source, all without formal instruction. Other examples include animal fighting, animal courtship behavior, internal escape functions, and building of nests.

"Technically speaking, any event that initiates an instinctive behavior is termed a key stimulus (KS) or a releasing stimulus. Key stimuli in turn lead to innate releasing mechanisms (IRM), which in turn produce fixed action patterns (FAP) ".

A lot of times during your life, especially at the poker situations will arise where you have to make critical decisions very quickly. The first decision that comes to you in any dilemma is usually from your inner instincts or “gut feeling”. This gut feeling is a combination of your intelligence, experience, and knowledge that all work together to instantly give you a final conclusion.

One of My friend who has been in the HR department of Cummins was trying a switchover to the Legal Integration Department of Sapient. For this he have been undergoing this training in Delhi for more than a year now. About two weeks ago, as thier recruitments got confirmed ,the company asked for his preferences regarding the locations of his final postings. He had given his preference as Mumbai. But after having spent almost a year with other trainees, He made friends with a few of them and for once He thought of changing His preference to Gurgaon. However, on second thought, He decided not to. But before this final decision, He discussed this issue with a few others and asked their opinion about changing his preference. The two extreme instincts which he heard from them were:

1. "Yaar...there are limited vacancies in Gurgaon and if you too opt for it, then probably I won't get Gurgaon."

2. "Good yaar...tu bhi aaja, masti karenge!" (If you also come to Gurgaon, we'll enjoy!)

These reactions gave him some insight into the thought process of these two individuals which he was actually trained in.The reason was that Gurgaon office was considered to be having the latest state of art facilities and thus all the prime activities were actually carried from there. The fact that most of the top management team use to sit there,While Mumbai location was just a corporate office and it actually carried out the basic proceses and back office operations.

Some people lie and fake so very often and with such a great expertise that others just can't help being fooled by them.Actually the intincts can be distinguished from routine beahviours to find exactly how and what instincts are being used by an individual. A number of criteria were established by the research studies which distinguishes instinctual from other kinds of behavior. To be considered instinctual a behavior must a) be automatic, b) be irresistible, c) occur at some point in development, d) be triggered by some event in the environment, e) occur in every member of the species, f) be unmodifiable, and g) govern behavior for which the organism needs no training (although the organism may profit from experience and to that degree the behavior is modifiable). The absence of one or more of these criteria indicates that the behavior is not fully instinctual.

Psychologists do recognize that humans do have biological predispositions or behaviors that are easy to learn due to biological wiring, for example walking and talking. But instincts, being their response to external stimulus before application of any thought process to it, are their natural and true response and reflect their true character. And though the instincts are not always conclusive, they certainly help us understand others better.

Instincts are the province of the brain..................................

The Choice.......yet a lot confusing .................

she is standing there all dressed in white...she looks calm..serene..unaffected..a strange glow lights up her face...she seems happy..content...calling me towards her with motherly affection...
i take a few steps in her direction....when all of a sudden, a strange fear grips me...
there is only one question playing on my mind like a broken record---should i go ahead???
it is then that i hear a faint call.i turn to see a shadow---blurred, hazy, discrete..."don't run away from me my child, come back to me" it keeps saying....
there is a strange solace in that voice...a reassuring note which wants me to rush back...just like a child rushes back into his mothers arms when he is afraid...

but then something holds me from going back..there is this lady in white who seems so genuine...so much like she wants to see me happy..the light she is emanating makes me feel that she is going to be there to show me the way...to guide me..but she says nothing...she just smiles and as if reading the thought in my head says "ask yourself"

i try to concentrate but my attention is broken over and over again by the shadow calling out to me...it seems familiar--the voice..as if ive heard it before..from close quarters...yet it is suspiciously artificial...
it seems convincing enough to make me feel that it needs me to return to it, promising to keep me safe forever...secure and strong forever..yet i am afraid...not satisfied...

but the lady in white is a stranger...and maybe that is the fear tugging at me...maybe i am so used to the familiarity that i am feeling afraid to put my trust in a stranger who i haven't ever seen before...yet somehow, there is this conviction---this strong gut feeling...this voice in my head telling me to take those steps forward towards the light...

i turn to see the shadow again...it looks sad...looks lonely, saying-- "please don't go..how will i live without you?" ..damn!! it must be missing me!
i strain my ears to hear if the 'light' ahead has something to say...but it is still silent..not a single word..just the pristine smile which tells me that i wouldn't regret my decision had i to choose the path in front...i give it a questioning look again and all it says is "ask yourself"..

i stand there helpless and confused not knowing where to go...

i have to choose between the two...
the comforting security of the shadow or the silence of the light??
the familiar road i had once been or the bright path of which im clueless about??

Brian Charles Lara-The cricket genius

Brian Charles Lara is often called as the Left Handed God of Cricket(nicknamed "The Prince of Port-of-Spain", "The Prince of Trinidad" or simply "The Prince")by his fans allover the world. He was born on 2nd May 1969 in a family of 11 children and he being the last..He has topped the Test batting rankings on several occasions where he holds the record for highest individual innings. He also holds the record for the highest individual score in first-class cricket, with a total of 501* for Warwick shire against Durham at Edgbaston in 1994, as well as the highest individual score in a test innings with 400 not out.

Lara was the record holder for the highest number of runs ever scored by a batsman in test cricket until he was surpassed by Sachin Tendulkar on 17 October, 2008. He is regarded as one of the finest batsmen ever to have played the game.

Early cricket career .....

1987 was a breakthrough year for Lara, when in the West Indies Youth Championships he scored 498 runs beating the record of 480 by Carl Hooper set the previous year.[1] He captained the Trinidad and Tobago team at this tournament whom eventually won the tournament due to a match winning 116 from Lara.

In January 1988, Lara made his first-class debut for Trinidad and Tobago in the Red Stripe Cup against Leeward Islands. In his second first-class match he made 92 against a Barbados attack containing Joel Garner and Malcolm Marshall, two greats of West Indies teams. Later in the same year, he captained the West Indies team in Australia for the Bicentennial Youth World Cup where the West Indies reached the semi-finals. Later that year, his innings of 182 as captain of the West Indies under 23 XI against the touring Indian team elevated his reputation even further.

His first selection for the full West Indies team followed in due course, but unfortunately coincided with the death of his father and Lara withdrew from the team. In 1989, he captained a West Indies B Team in Zimbabwe and scored 145.

In 1990, at the age of 20, Lara became Trinidad and Tobago's youngest ever captain, leading them that season to victory in the one-day Geddes Grant Shield. It was also in 1990 that he made his belated Test debut for West Indies against Pakistan, scoring 44 and 5. He had made his ODI debut a month earlier against Pakistan, scoring 11. In the 1992 World Cup Lara did well averaging 47.57 with a highest score of 88 retired hurt.

In January 1993, Lara scored 277 versus Australia in Sydney, this was his maiden Test century in his fifth Test, this innings was the turning point of the series as West Indies won the final two Tests to win the series 2-1.Lara went on to name his daughter Sydney after scoring 277 at SCG.
Lara holds several world records for high scoring. He has the highest individual score in both first-class cricket (501 not out for Warwickshire against Durham in 1994) and Test cricket (400 not out for the West Indies against England in 2004). Lara amassed his world record 501 in 474 minutes off only 427 balls. He hit 308 in boundaries (10 sixes and 62 fours). His partners were Roger Twose (115 partnership - 2nd wicket), Trevor Penney (314 - 3rd), Paul Smith (51 - 4th) and Keith Piper (322 unbroken - 5th). Earlier in that season Lara scored six centuries in seven innings while playing for Warwickshire.

Career ......

He is the only man to have reclaimed the Test record score, having scored 375 against England in 1994, a record that stood until Matthew Hayden's 380 against Zimbabwe in 2003. His 400 not out also made him the second player after Donald Bradman to score two Test triple-centuries, and the second after Bill Ponsford to score two first-class quadruple-centuries. He has scored nine double centuries in Test cricket, second only to Bradman's twelve.

Lara captained the West Indies from 1998 to 1999 in this period West Indies suffered their first whitewash at the hands of South Africa following this they played Australia in a four Test series which was drawn 2-2, Lara scored 546 runs including two centuries and one double hundred. In the second Test at Kingston he scored 213 while in the third Test he scored 153* in the second innings as West Indies chased down 311 with one wicket left. He won the Man of the Match award for both matches and was also named Man of the Series.

In 2001 Lara was named the Man of the Carlton Series in Australia with an average of 46.50 the highest average by a West Indian in that series scoring two half centuries and one century, 116 against Australia. Also in that year Lara amassed 688 runs in the three match away Test series against Sri Lanka making three centuries and one fifty including a double century and a century in the first and second innings of the 3rd Test Match at the Sinhalese Sports Ground making 46% of the team's runs in that series. This is the only second instance a Single batsmen had scored more than 40% of his team runs against any opponents after the Legendary Sir Don Bradman. These extraordinary performances led Muttiah Muralitharan to state that Lara was the most dangerous batsman he had ever faced.

Lara was reappointed as captain against the touring Australians in 2003, and struck 110 in his first Test match back in charge, showing signs of him returning to his best. Later that season under his captaincy West Indies won the two match Test series against Sri Lanka 1-0 with Lara making a double century in the First Test. In September 2004, West Indies won the ICC Champions Trophy in England under his captaincy.

In March 2005, Lara declined selection for the West Indies team because of a dispute over his personal Cable & Wireless sponsorship deal, which clashed with the Cricket Board's main sponsor, Digicel. Six other players were involved in this dispute, including stars Chris Gayle, Ramnaresh Sarwan and Dwayne Bravo. Lara said he declined selection in a stand of solidarity, when these players were dropped because of their sponsorship deals. The issue was resolved after the first Test of the series against the touring South African team.

Lara returned to the team for the second Test (and scored a huge first innings score of 196), but in the process lost his captaincy indefinitely to the newly-appointed Shivnarine Chanderpaul. In the next Test, against the same opponents, he scored a 176 in the first innings. After a one day series against South Africa, he scored his first Test century against the visiting Pakistanis in the first Test at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados which the West Indies eventually won.

On 26 April 2006 Lara was reappointed the captain of the West Indies cricket team for the third time. This followed the resignation of Shivnarine Chanderpaul, who had been captain for thirteen months - in which the West Indies won just one of the 14 Test matches they had competed. In May 2006, Lara led the West Indies to successful One-Day series victories against Zimbabwe and India. Lara's team played Australia in the finals of the DLF Cup and the ICC Champions Trophy where they finished runners up in both finals.

On 16 December 2006 he became the first player for the West Indies to pass 10,000 One Day International runs. along with Sachin Tendulkar one of only two players to do so in both forms of the game. On 10 April 2007 Lara confirmed his retirement from one day cricket post the 2007 Cricket World Cup. A few days later he announced that he would in fact be retiring from all international cricket after the tournament.

Lara played his final international game on 21 April 2007 in a dead rubber World Cup game against England. He was run out for 18; England won the game. Before the end of this world cup Glenn McGrath stated that Lara is the greatest batsman that he has ever bowled to.

Highlights ........

* Lara struck 277 runs against Australia in Sydney, his maiden Test century, the fourth highest maiden Test century by any batsman, the highest individual score in all Tests between the two teams and the fourth-highest century ever recorded against Australia by any Test batsman.
* He became the first man to score seven centuries in eight first-class innings, the first being the record 375 against England and the last being the record 501 not out against Durham.
* After Matthew Hayden had eclipsed his Test record for highest individual score 375 by five runs in 2003, he reclaimed the record scoring 400 not out in 2004 against England. With these innings he became the second player to score two Test triple centuries, the second player to score two career quadruple centuries, the only player to achieve both these milestones, and regained the distinction of being the holder of both the record first-class individual innings and the record Test individual innings.
* In the same innings, he became the second batsman to score 1000 Test runs in five different years, four days after Matthew Hayden first set the record.
* He was the all-time leading run scorer in Test cricket, a record he attained on 26 November 2005 until surpassed by Sachin Tendulkar on 17 October 2008.
* He was the fastest batsmen to score 10,000 (with Sachin Tendulkar) and 11,000 Test runs, in terms of number of innings.
* He scored 34 centuries; joint-third along with Sunil Gavaskar, on the all-time list behind Sachin Tendulkar (41) and Ricky Ponting (36).
* He has the most centuries for a West Indian[19]
* Nine of his centuries are double centuries (surpassed only by Donald Bradman)[12]
* Two of them are triple-centuries (matched by Bradmanand India's Virender Sehwag).
* He has scored centuries against all Test-playing nations. He achieved this feat in 2005 by scoring his first Test century against Pakistan at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados.
* He became only the sixth batsman to score a century in one session, doing so against Pakistan on 21 November 2006.
* Lara has scored an astonishing 20% of his team runs, a feat surpassed only by Bradman (23%). Lara scored 688 runs (46% of team output, a record for a series of three or more Tests, and the second highest aggregate runs in history for a three-Test series) in the 2001-02 tour of Sri Lanka.
* He also scored a century and a double century in the third Test in that same Sri Lanka tour, a feat repeated only five other times in Test cricket history.
* The first was the unenviable one of becoming the batsman to score the most runs (351 for both innings) on a losing side in a Test.
* The second record was that he became the batsman to score the largest proportion (53.83 per cent) of his team's runs in a Test (221 out of 390 and 130 out of 262). He eclipsed the long-standing record of 51.88 per cent by the South African J. H. Sinclair (106 out of 177 and 4 out of 35) against England at Capetown in an 1898 - 1899 series.

* Lara holds the world record of scoring most runs in a single over (28 runs against left-arm spinner RJ Peterson of South Africa) in Test cricket. He also scored 26 runs in a single over off the bowling of Danish Kaneria at Multan Cricket Stadium on 21 November 2006.
* He scored the ninth fastest Test century, doing so off 77 balls against Pakistan on 21 November 2006.
* With 164 catches, He is the fourth all-time catch-taker of non-Wicketkeepers, behind Mark Waugh, Rahul Dravid, and Stephen Fleming.
* In 1994, he was awarded the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Overseas Personality Award. In 1995, he was chosen as one of the Wisden Cricketers of the Year.
* Comfortably averaging over 50 per innings (the benchmark for batting greatness in Test cricket), Lara has been ranked the number one batsman in Test cricket in the PricewaterhouseCoopers Cricket Ratings several times.
* Lara has played some of his best innings in recent years. Wisden published a top 100 list in July 2001, a distillation of the best performances from 1,552 Tests, 54,494 innings and 29,730 bowling performances. Three innings by Lara were placed in the top 15 (the most for any batsman in that range).[29] His heroic 153 not out in Bridgetown, Barbados, during West Indies' 2-2 home series draw against Australia in *1998-1999 was deemed the second greatest Test innings ever played, behind Bradman's 270 against England in the Third Test of the 1936–1937 series at Melbourne. On 13 October 2003, PricewaterhouseCoopers Ratings team published a list of top innings since 1990 under their own methodology. Lara's 213 against Australia in Kingston, Jamaica in 1999 came out to be the top innings. His 375 was placed 8th and his three other innings, including the 153 not out, were not far behind.

Tremendously gifted, Brian Lara remains one of the most exciting players in the world. He holds the world record for the highest Test and first-class score, 375 and 501 respectively. Despite this, many will look back on Lara's career with a hint of disappointment. On form and on song he is irresistible, but he is susceptible to losing form, confidence and application.

Left-handers generally look elegant, and Lara is no exception. A short man, he has a slightly squat stance, an exaggerated, open backlift and lightning feet. In defence, he is studious yet stylish, and his aggressive shots are played with a dismissive flourish. Ruthless through the covers, Lara is able to destroy any bowling attack. His build is not that of a big hitter, but he is keen to take on the spinners and hit over the top with ferocity and power. He is also a fine, solid slip catcher.

Unsurprisingly, Lara scored heavily as a youngster. Encouraged by his father Bunty, who would die before his son played a Test match, Lara was given professional coaching. He excelled for his college, and had his first taste of first-class cricket as a teenager. In his second game for Trinidad, he fell just short of a century against a Barbados attack containing Joel Garner and Malcolm Marshall. Lara first toured with the full West Indies side in 1990/91. He played one Test and one ODI on the tour to Pakistan, scoring 44 in his first Test innings. He toured England in 1991, but a strong batting line-up kept him out of the side.

Lara broke into the Test team again in West Indies home Test against South Africa. He made 64 in the second innings. He had already established himself in the one-day side, hitting several half centuries in the World Cup.

No-one since Bradman has built massive scores as often and as fast as Lara in his pomp. Even his stance was thrilling - the bat raised high in the air, the weight poised on a bent front knee, the eyes low and level. Then the guillotine would fall, sending the ball flashing to the boundary. Being the batsmen in the world always have been a constant pressure on him to perform everytime he walked in to bat. Leading a side where he was by far and away the genius player and the rest of the team members turned out be a mere ordinary cricketers fighting against the world's best cricketers & teams.I always felt that, if few of his team batsmen had supported him in scoring some runs and showed few resistance Lara would have won a lot of matches and the face of the current west indies cricket would have be a much vibrant and strong force to reckon in the world arena. As Lara rightly said in a polished and very humble manner when he thanked his team mate chanderpaul for being with him almost thoughout his career before he left the australian soil for the last time.

Despite the peaks and troughs, Lara is still enjoying a fine career. The comparison with Sachin Tendulkar is often made, and most experts would concede that both are far better batsman than cricket has witnessed, But there can be few sights more thrilling in cricket than Brian Charles Lara in full flow. After all these two have been called as the two hands of the GOD OF CRICKET !

The best I've seen in him is that he had the highest individual score record in a single test innings for about 10 years.. He scored 375 against England in Antigua Recreation Ground (dedicated to Sir Vivian Richards). One of the best innings by a test batsman. The record was broken by Mathew Hayden of Australia 10 yrs after the record was set. Everyone thought that the record will stay for a long time, but Lara had different plans as he went on to break the record by scoring a tremendous 400* against England in the very same ground he scored 375 before 10 years.. It was the first time international cricket board showed 400 mark for a batsman.. It was considered one of the best knocks of Test cricket .. He has lead the West Indian team for victory single handedly in several occasions..

He is considered a genius not only because he score a 375 and 400* and has the world record.. But because he could do that even after a 10 year gap. His ability to bounce back strongly and in a commanding manner even against the toughest opponents is what makes even his contemporary cricketers to look amazed and honour him. he has done it on several occasions and has proved that he can always perform at the most even when his teammates have left him down / his team is in a losing stage.Often he has not got the right support from his team batsmen and thus Lara was always left alone to fight the battles which he did carry in sizzzling manner. When he retired from all forms of cricket in front of his home crowd, lots and lots of people around the world had tears in their eyes and couldn't believe that it was an end of a Genius whom even the God would have like to watch for a couple of more years. But then Destiny is always pre written and cannot be changed as when things happen. Long live the Genius, the legend, the Master Blaster who proved to be a mortal by physical appearance and was really an Immortal on the field.

The last that West Indies cricket board could do for Brian Lara was to give a Brand new 45000 seating capacity ground & stadium by his name " The Brian Lara Ground ".

" Did I Entertain " - the last words which the Legend asked at his fans, turned every single soul filled with tears showed the modesty of this Big Man of world cricket. He came, played the game, conquered it, demolished the opponents and evoked fear on all individuals & teams who stepped against him....

Sir You always entertained your fans and made your opponents in turn speak about its effect later ....

I salute & Thank you Mr. Brian Lara, for the immense pleasure, joy and knowledge you gave me with your terrific performances for 17 years in the International Arena in both the Test & ODI cricket. You were solely Responsible for me (In fact Many around the world )to play this game to an extent which i have played to the best of my abilities.

Certainly i can explain his career as " The Best Here Is , The Best Here Was, The Best Who Ever Will Be In " in the world of cricket !!!
